Introduction to Computational Science is a one year course introducing students to the techniques of computational science. The
objective of the course is the development of a scientific applications research project on a topic of the student's choice. This course
will offer experience in mathematical modeling, computational modeling, basic research, scientific visualization, technical writing, and project presentation. Internet access is provided by the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Emphasis will be placed on project development. Components of this course include the history and development of computers, UNIX, structured programming,
mathematical modeling, problem solving techniques, visualization techniques, and Internet resources. Cooperative efforts with
research scientists at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and other areas of the academic and scientific community will permit
student participation in software design that will utilize the capabilities of high speed computers to solve problems with scientific
applications.Grades: 9-12 Perquisites: Algebra I or teacher approval
